For over 40 years, the Vermeer family has cared for Okau Station, a 5,000-acre wilderness near Mataikona, Wairarapa. Today, Boyd and Kim Vermeer continue this tradition, welcoming hunters from New Zealand and overseas. Okau Hunting is known for its real New Zealand hunting experience with a focus on both the adventure and the enjoyment of gathering together. Meet your local hosts
Okau Hunting began with Gert and Christine Vermeer and is now proudly run by their son Boyd and partner Kim. Having grown up amongst the hills of Mataikona, Boyd brings practical knowledge and honest advice, and Kim ensures every detail is looked after. Together, they put heart into every stay and hunt, sharing New Zealand hunting adventures and accommodation with visitors from down the road and across the world.
